Telefónica I+D

Over the last few years, the line of work of Telefónica I+D has evolved to conform to the objective of becoming a services creation lab which is active in the following major areas:

  • Services creation, related to the broadband, intelligent network, data communications, narrowband ISDN, speech technology, and public use telecommunications.
  • Network and services management, using solutions based on the latest TMN standards.
  • Network innovation, with the purpose of supporting Telefonica in its effort to offer the widest possible range of services.

Telefonica I+D bases its work on the use of the most advanced and competitive concepts and media, thorough knowledge of the suitable technical capabilities over a range of basic technologies.

Telefónica I+D will be taking the role of the project coordinator. From a technical point of view, the company will provide its in-depth expertise in formal methods, object-oriented design and programming systems, software engineering tools, real-time systems, databases and knowledge bases, knowledge reHome and reasoning, manmachine interface, and software tools for network simulation.

Further, Telefónica will act as a user of the developed technology as well. By taking the role of an ISP, Telefónica will experiment with the COGKNOW system and demonstrate its performance and efficiency, leading the WP of exploitation and with a high interest in the WP of dissemination.
